Vibro-acoustic massage
using Tibetan singing, also known as Nepal's healing bowls

Tibetan singing bowls, also known as Nepal’s healing bowls, are ancient musical instruments (their sound is similar to that of a small gong). These bowls produce unique sounds that heal both the body and the mind.
According to Tibetan customs, the origin of the singing bowls can be traced back to the era of Buddha Shakyamuni (560–480 BC) in India.
The healing bowls produce sounds that guide us into a deep meditative state, where the goal is to achieve enlightenment and understanding. It has been discovered that these instruments were originally made from an alloy of twelve metals—silver, nickel, copper, zinc, antimony, tin, lead, cobalt, bismuth, arsenic, cadmium, and iron. However, today their composition can differ and may not always include the same metals. An ancient legend says that the bowls must contain seven metals and a piece of meteorite ore to guarantee their special cosmic sound.
When we listen to the sound of these instruments, our center of feeling and intuition is activated. For this reason, Nepal’s healing bowls are a wonderful tool for sound meditation, as well as for use in sound therapy to harmonize and restore balance to the body. This type of meditation is also useful when seeking answers to questions from God. Sound vibrations rejuvenate and help us feel the power within, as well as unite with the universe. Unlike similar synthesizer sounds, Tibetan singing bowl sounds are "energized" through the friction of wood against metal and the vibrations caused by the mallet.
The use of Tibetan singing bowls in vibro-acoustic massage has been known for over 2,500 years. During these sessions, multiple bowls are used, each producing its own unique sound and tone, ranging from deep to medium and high frequencies. The sound created by these bowls includes an infinite array of overtones, which spiral and envelop the audible tones.
The sound vibrations of Nepalese healing bowls, like those of small gongs, resonate with the planetary frequencies of the universe. When these frequencies align with the human body, they help restore its natural balance. This interaction of overtones is based on the principle of sound waves: two streams of sound meet, form a standing wave, and then dissolve into a sea of sound. The bowls create multiple harmonious sounds simultaneously, which resonate with the body. The combination of sound and vibrations generated by the singing bowls improves the function of the body’s glands, acts as a switch between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, and helps release various types of blockages.
In Eastern medicine, it is believed that the cause of illness is the blockage of energy flow within the body. During a vibro-acoustic massage, these energy blockages are released, allowing life energy to flow freely once again. This brings a deeply relaxing, stress-relieving effect, creating a state where the body, mind, and soul feel restored, healthy, and happy. The vibrations produced by the Nepalese singing bowls help induce deep relaxation, harmonizing the body and soul while awakening inner strength.
Thanks to the healing vibrations that flow through the entire body, self-healing abilities are greatly enhanced, energy blockages are cleared, and the immune system is strengthened. The therapeutic properties of Tibetan singing bowls also shift consciousness, promoting a deep sense of peace, well-being, and health. Memory improves, energy increases, joy multiplies, creativity blossoms, and profound personal growth takes place.
Vibro-acoustic massages can be categorized based on their purpose, such as chakra massage, lymphatic massage, meridian massage, and more. These massages can also be classified as either contact or non-contact. In a non-contact massage, the aura and subtle bodies are cleansed. During a contact massage, direct effects are applied to both the physical body and the subtle energy bodies, as well as the aura.

How a Vibro-acoustic Massage with Singing Bowls is Performed:
The session begins with the person lying down, covered with a blanket, and the bowls being placed either directly on the body (for contact massages) or around it. The aura is then cleansed using the sounds of bells and Tibetan singing bowls. One bowl is selected to perform the massage. By placing the bowl on or holding it above the body and either striking or rubbing its edges, vibrations and sounds are created that affect the entire body. The “singing” of the bowl gradually takes over the mind, guiding the person into a state of deep, healing relaxation. The sound facilitates a balance between both hemispheres of the brain.
For optimal results, it is recommended to wear natural fabrics during the session and to remove any metal accessories. Regular meditation is also advised to prolong the beneficial effects. During the session, energy blockages, toxins, and negativity will be released. It’s important to cultivate new, positive intentions to help reshape your consciousness.
